Some says, that if your SaaS product’s landing is not looking like that blank image above, you’re doing it wrong, as you are focusing on the wrong thing; buiding a landing page, instead of shipping features.

Well, I’m not sure about that, but I’m sure that Bettertori’s new landing page is not looking like that. I find it important, to have a good looking site, which showcases the features of the product, and gives a good first impression to the users.

Feedback of the initial landing page

For sure, I’ve spent way to much time on the first iteration of the landing page (which is no longer available, and I am too lazy to restore it for the sake of this post). I’ve got some feedback from the users, that based purely alone the landing page, it’s not clear what Bettertori is about, and what it can do for them.

While it was fancy, a lot of eyecandy animations, framer-motion, interactive elements, and whatnot, it failed to deliver the message.; what is Bettertori, and why should you use it? Just like this person was scrolling it through.

And they were right, and it needed a change. So, I’ve decided to go with a more traditional approach, and build a landing page, which is more focused on the features of the product, and less on the animations.

But still looks cool.

The focus is on the features, and the benefits of the product. It hopefully paints a clearer picture of what Bettertori is about, and what it can do for you.

Besides going full in with the fancyness, I also wanted to avoid to create something totally marketing 💩, which I am personally not a fan of, and I strongly believe that the product should speak for itself.

However, I’ve found it rather difficult to find the best way to demonstrate the real power of Bettertori, so I’ve to decided to introduce the feautures in short video format.

The future

Since the initial feedback was definitely more positive than the first version, I am not planning to spend more time on the landing page. Surely some minor tweaks can be done, and new features will added as they are being developed and shipped, but the focus will be on the product itself.
